  1. In India, National Maritime Week begins on 30 March and culminates with the celebration of National Maritime Day on 5 April. National Maritime Day (NMD) or Merchant Navy Flag day is annually observed across India to raise awareness about the economy and global trade and to commemorate the sailing of the first Indian Steamship ‘S.S. Loyalty’ of the Scindia Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., in 1919, from Mumbai to London. The theme for National Maritime Week 2023 is “Amrit Kaal in Shipping” (Golden Era in Shipping).
  2. The United Nations’ International Day of Conscience is annually celebrated across the world on 5 April to promote peace and to commemorate the importance of human conscience.
  3. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on 30 March, 2023 announced a year-long celebration to commemorate Vaikom Satyagraha, the historical struggle against untouchability.
  4. The second G20 Tourism Working Group (TWG) meeting held in West Bengal’s Siliguri and Darjeeling from 1-3 April, 2023.
  5. National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited on 31 March, 2023 announced that it recorded the highest-ever power generation of 400 billion units (BU) in 2022-23.
  6. Ministry of Defence has signed contracts for the procurement of improved Akash Weapon System (AWS) and 12 Weapon Locating Radars, WLR Swathi (Plains) for the Indian Army at an overall cost of over 9100 crore rupees.
  7. Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on 31 March, 2023 launched the App Version of National Logistics Portal (Marine) ‘Sagar-Setu’.
  8. Rajib Kumar Mishra, who was holding the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of PTC India or formerly Power Trading Corporation of India Limited, has been given a permanent role in the company.
  9. Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and his Romanian counterpart Simona Cojocaru on 28 March, 2023 held a bilateral meeting on defence cooperation in New Delhi.
  10. The Punjab and Haryana Court recently utilized the assistance of an AI chatbot called ChatGPT to make a decision regarding a bail application in a criminal case, marking the first time an Indian court has done so.
  11. Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated a direct flight between Amritsar, India and Gatwick, London on 27 March, 2023.
  12. On 29 March 2023, the Premier League inducted former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and ex-Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger into its Hall of Fame. This is the first time that managers have been included in this prestigious list.  
  13. Badri Srinivasan will lead Wipro’s India and Southeast Asia businesses under the company’s Asia Pacific, Middle East, India and Africa (APMEA) Strategic Market Unit.
  14. Rudrendra Tandon, a 1994 batch IFS officer, presently Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Greece on 31 March, 2023. 
  15. Theatre person Gopinath Kozhikode, music director P.S. Vidyadharan, and Chenda/Edakka artist Kalamandalam Unnikrishnan have been selected for the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi 2022 fellowships for their contribution to the respective fields.
  16. On 3 April, 2023 former Judge of Kerala High Court Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrishnan, commonly called Thottathil B Radhakrishnan passed away at Kochi, Kerala at the age of 63.
